Is it normal for a first period to last seven days?

It can be any length: Since a young woman's first menstrual period is usually anovulatory (meaning she is not quite mature enough yet to establish regular ovulation) the very first cycle can be anything from very scant and spotty to long and heavy. It may be a year or so to see if a regular pattern is established.
