In a sense--yes: Our sugar intake should be via fresh fruit beause the fiber modifies the way that the sugar is processed in the body. All our vitamins and minerals should come from mother nature but farming practices are partly undoing that and most of us actually need vitamin supplements to maintain ideal health.
