Gingivitis: If you haven’t been to the dentist in the last year, that would be a start. Seeing a professional dental hygienist twice a year is also very important. Brush and floss every day. You can rinse with warm salt water or an antibacterial rinse.

See a gum specialist: If your good habits at home, i.e. Brushing and flossing, don't reduce the problem, you may have more serious periodontitis rather than just gingivitis. See your dentist soon.

Gingivitis: Is this your diagnosis or one made by a professional. If it is your diagnosis, you may have a more severe problem that you just are not trained to diagnose. Start with your Dentist/Hygienist team who will asses the cause of your problem, it's severity, and the appropriate treatment. If necessary, referral to a Periodontist will be made. These professionals will also teach you what to do to help.
