Cover up only: Mouthwashes do not really get rid of bad breath. They only cover them up. While it is true that some reduce the bacterial levels in your mouth, you really need to find out the cause of your bad breath. Once you know that, you can prevent it, rather than merely try to cover it up, only to have it return. Poor oral hygiene is the most common cause, although there are many dental & medical causes.

Try cloysis: Alcohol mouth rinses, if used excessively will dry out your mouth which can also lead to bad breath. Try cloysis which reduces sulfurs which cause bad breath. You may also have an underlying gum problem which is only temporarily altered by mouthwash.I would recommend you discuss this with your dentist after a periodontal evaluation.

No: Mouthwash only treated or masked the symptom, i.e. Bad breath. The cause of bad breath, orally, are draining infection, food impaction, gum bleeding. The other cause are GI related.
