Severe cough: Coughing can be very distressing and potentially indicate a significant underlying condition. The most common reasons for chronic cough is asthma, post nasal drip from allergies or sinus infection and stomach acid reflux. Medication like cough suppresants will not address the primary reason for the cough. It's best not to take chances with your breathing.
