Interesting?: Generally you should not touch the white of the eye. If you have something in your eye, try gently touching or wiping with a moistened q-tip. You may wish to irrigate with a standard eye irrigation solution bought otc. If no immediate relief, see pcp, er or eye doctor immediatly. You should not have to "clean" the white of the eye. Be very careful. Pain means see the doc!

Saline: Can use artificial tears, saline, rewetting solution, etc. To flush something out. Can also do in the office after topical anesthetic. If foreign body sensation persists, should see an eyecare specialist.

Cannot clean: The white part of the eye called the sclera is covered by a clear layer of tissue with blood vessels called the conjunctiva. It is not a good idea to wash out your eyes to clean them as this can cause other problems. Speak to you eye doctor about this and good luck!
