How to treat gangrene wounds and sores?

Debridement: Gangrene is an extremely severe form of infection causing local death and decay of soft tissues of the body due to lack of blood flow. Debridement or surgical removal of dead tissue followed by increasing oxygenation to remaining tissue (sometimes in a hyperbaric chamber) will allow the tissue to heal. Sometimes it is so severe there is a need for amputation of the limb.

See doctor: Treating gangrene in a wound is a serious situation, you should be seeing a doctor immediately. Serious and life threatening infection may occur. The general treatment is to discover why there is gangrene, may be established infection, poor blood supply, or even an immune response where the body attacks its own tissues. Removal of the dead tissue and treating infection are critical.
