No: Gangrene is destruction of tissue due to loss of blood supply. Elderly people with poor circulation to an extremity can start with localized gangrene in a small area of the foot. Unless corrected gangrene will progress. Diabetics have poor circulation and may develop areas of gangrene which is why control of blood sugar levels for them is important. Wounds rarely become gangrenous.
