Immune system attack: Good evening, it is an insightful question! HIV agent attacks the immune cells themselves while most other infectious agents are attacked by cells of immune system as soon as they enter our body. Hiv enters the immune cells, kills them, causes programmed cell death of cells, and we lose cell-mediated immunity. This makes us defenseless against other invading organism and normally harmless germs.
