Is it possible for someone to have asthma but not have the wheezing or full blown chest tightness?

Yes but not typical: Asthmatic attacks often start with a cough but usually progress to a tightness in the chest and wheezing. Usually respond to using an inhaler with brochdilator, inhaled steroid or both.
