No: That is strictly myth. Sitting too close to the tv will only give you a headache at best.

No: The distance is based on your refractive error (focusing power to get the image the clearest). Historically, televisions emitted radiation so sitting too close was concerning but now with proper shielding and new types of tvs, it's no longer an issue.
