Chronic nail-biting : Is, indeed, a habit disorder most commonly found in children & adults with anxiety disorders +/- other comorbid conditions (e.g., adhd). Accurate diagnoses by mental health professionals are needed to determine which treatments & therapies are most likely to be effective in managing the symptoms.

Sometimes: Nail biting can be a form of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) that is treatable with cognitive behavioral therapy, behavioral therapy and sometimes psychotropic medications.
