Heterochromia: If the color of the iris changes, it is called heterochromia ("different color"). This condition usually occurs at birth. If the iris color changes later, it should be evaluated by an eye doctor. If the white of the eye becomes yellow, it is called jaundice, and needs to be evaluated as well. Dark pigmentation may be a normal change or may also be a sign of a condition that needs to be evaluated.
