A member asked:

Zyprexa, (olanzapine) what is it for and can one buys it off the shelf?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Anti-psychotic: Zyprexa (olanzapine) (olanapine) is a neuroleptic (anti-psychotic) medication available only by prescription in the us. It is also used for mania (bipolar disorder). It is strong and effective for these uses, but it has a number of side-effects (weight gain, sedation, metabolic syndrome, etc) that would make it unsafe to use without medical supervision.
