A member asked:

I have sharp stabbing pains in my lower stomach area, but my period is not due for a few weeks, why is this so?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

May be ovulating: Ovulation usually occurs 2 weeks before your period. The substance that causes period cramping, prostaglandin, is also needed to make the egg release from the ovary. Some women feel it every month. Some only feel it once in a while.
