Where is the bump ?: Apparently it was a small abscess. Was the abscess coming from your tooth (endodontic) or your gum (periodontic)? Your periodontist diagnosed your condition based on a physical exam of the area with a radiograph. Trust the judgement, and give it three weeks to see how it goes. Can't possibly agree or disagree with your periodontist without clinical info. Feel better soon..

Re-exam: I would have the doctor that did the root canal re-examine the tooth. First determine that the root canal treatment was adequate and healing. You may also need additional periodontal treatment to eliminate the pocket.
