Rhizotomy: Im assuming you are referring to a facet rhizotomy. Did the procedure give you any relief? There are other conservative pain management interventions. If you have already tried and failed these you should see a spine surgeon for evaluation. Perhaps a fusion may help you when all other possibilities fail, but this depends on being examined and reviewing your history and films.

New or old pain?: Pain should not be severe.If you just had the rhizotomy, back mild pain initially is acceptable but this should resolve within 1-3 days. If the pain is similar to what it was before procedure, maybe you have not waited long enough for the procedure to help.Give it 3 days.You can always call doctor who did procedure. I am sure they would want to know right away if something different than expected.
