Get ICS now: Airway remodeling happens secondary to the on going inflammation in patients with asthma who are not on controller medications. You need to do pulmonary function test (pft) before and after bronchdilator and if fev1 is not improved by 12%, then you might have remodeling. Anyhow, you should start inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) asap to stop inflammation in your airways. Shahzeidi, md.

Talk to your PCP: Asthma is a combination of bronchospasm which is a squeezing of the airways but also congestion in your airway. Your albuterol as needed only helps to keep your airway open but does not affect the congestion. You may need daily medication like an inhaled steroid to relieve some your symptoms. A device like a peak flow meter will also help to assess your symptoms.
