See M.D.: You may be experiencing an asthma attack. It is important to check with your doctor or urgent care center for further care. If you have a history of asthma, the albuterol two puffs is a standard dose, unless otherwise prescribed. If you have chest tightness and no cardiac problems, the dose can be repeated every 20 minutes x 3 on the way to the doctor's office.
