Packing: If indeed you have a dry socket your dentist can pack the extraction site with a medication to relieve the pain. You may need to have the packing changed several times till the pain totally resolves.

Not normal: This is not a normal post-operative complication because a dry socket should go away before two weeks. Way too much of the Motrin and tylenol (acetaminophen) which cautions potential liver damage. Area should be re-evaluated with an x-ray to see if there is still a bone or tooth fragment left causing the continuing infection. Something is still wrong.
