What does light spotting mean?

Menstrual bleeding: Light spotting refers to a small amount of vaginal blood flow, like a very light period. It can be normal to have spotting with ovulation or at the beginning or end of a normal period, or during the sugar pill week if taking birth control pill. If it happens while pregnant or after menopause, it should be checked out.
