I am 61. for a couple of months, whenever i try to walk, i feel great pain in both the heels and ankles. why is this?

Many possibilities: Many things can cause ankle and heel pain. Without a known injury, possibilities could include a painful arthritis. I would recommend evaluation by a podiatrist.
