My pin was removed and the docs told me that they never cast these brakes, why is that?

Depends: It depends on which bone is fractured. There are many bones that do not need a cast because they do not bear any weight, and can heal without a cast. Other bones are too hard to immobilize with a cast, so we pin them to allow them to heal.
