Does washing your face/body with water 5 times/more a day cause dry skin?

Dry Skin & Washing: Washing the skin more than twice daily with water can lead to skin dryness. Extra washing strips the skin of natural moisture, making dry skin worse, according to the american academy of dermatology. Skin dryness is further aggravated by using harsh soaps. Antibacterial soaps are the harshest on skin.

Depends: If your cleanser is caustic it will make you worse. Ivory soap is ph 10....Too caustic. Dove, eucerin, and others are ph 6-7. Use something to lubricate your skin after each wash and you will be ok. Why do you wash so often? Is it necessary or compulsive?
