Croup vs whooping co: Croup is usually a one to two day condition. It begins suddenly and has a characteristic seal bark cough. Whooping cough usually begins asa common cold and takes several days before the cough sets in. Whooping cough usually has a three week duration. Croup is usually viral in origin whereas whooping cough is bacterial in origin.
