Suppressants: The cough which is a common symptom with most viral upper respiratory illnesses, not just influenza, can be suppressed by a variety of treatments. A teaspoon of honey, dextro-methorphan (dm), or Codeine are often used. Tessilon perls are also used at times to suppress the cough. If it is not getting better after a week it may be time to see your physician.
