Rest: In general treat early with rest, ice, compression and elevation. Keep the knee relatively flexed. Once you are out of the acute phase of the injury begin gentle progressive stretches. Once you can stretch pain free...Usually a few weeks, then begin gentle progressive strengthening. If you reinjur the muscle at any point, back up and start again.

Ice.: Ice the area several times a day. Take an over the counter anti-inflammatory medication, and initiate physical therapy. Hopefully, that should do it.
