Possible: The facial bones may mature at different rates with the mandible and nasal bones being the last to achieve maturity. Given the differential rate of growth between the maxilla and the mandible during puberty, there may be periods of relative malocclusion that may contribute to TMJ related pain. Any other pains should be evaluated for possible disorders such as osteomas or abscess or mucocoeles.
