What are some good things i can do to help my autistic brother calm down?

Calming autism: Ideas: - quiet environment. - music in the background (some would argue for mozart or baroque adagios) - letting him play with/focus on things that are idiosyncratically appealing to him. - decreasing stimuli also, there are well-described, peer-reviewed biomedical interventions that can be tried. Among other things at cwi, we focus on increasing antioxidants, glutathione, and fish oil.

Love and planning: Outbursts and agitation in ASD are specific to each individual; however, are typically due to sensory over stimulation - pain, frustration, noise, emotion, etc. Look for antecedents to help identify triggers and thereby help develop anticipatory planning. Gi pain, auditory over stimulation and imbalances in nutrient chemistry are the most common issues i see in my practice.
