Let me explain: How do you know you have meniscal tear? You should have mri, if the MRI show minor injury no separation you could do that. If the meniscus is torn there are two to heal. 1- taken the torn portion out (arthroscopy). 2-repair it, (arthroscopy). The meniscus does not have good blood supply to heal on it is own.
