Analysis of dialysis: Both in hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, there are lab tests that reflect the overall efficiency of dialysis in clearing out the body's waste. This is a question for him to discuss with his nephrologist. No matter how efficient his dialysis is, there is nothing more efficient than a functioning kidney. Is he a transplant candidate? Might you or other siblings be living donor candidates?
