A member asked:

Can anyone give me suggestion on what to eat after a tonsillectomy, other than dairy products?

Watch your symptoms: Although liquid diet is typically recommended soon after tonsillectomy, i recommend that you try anything that would not irritate your throat. You want to avoid very hot/cold liquids as well as foods that will be hard to swollow. You may use mesh potatoes, broths, soups, soft breads, ground meat etc. Dairy products is not the only option!

Be careful: After tonsillectomy, there is a risk of bleeding, so you must be careful regarding your diet. Start with liquids and progress to soft foods - foods that do not require chewing such as oatmeal, mashed potatoes, etc. Your ENT surgeon should have a list of things that you can eat.
