How long will it be after my tonsillectomy until i can eat real food?

Depends: Each person is different. I have seen some post operative tonsil patients eating the following day and others still having difficulty at 3 weeks. The average is 5-7 days.

Depends: Every ENT doctor has a different answer. Some let people eat real food right away. I tell my patients to avoid foods and drinks that are hot, hard, spicy or acidic for 2 weeks. I like my patients to stay away from anything that can scratch, burn or irritate their throats while healing. No chips, fries, tomatoes, coffee, tea, lemon orange etc. Best for you to ask your doctor his/her preference.
