A member asked:

I have gilbert's disease where my bilirubin gets to 4.5 sometimes and i'm on toprol (metoprolol) xr and synthroid daily. can i drink moderate amts of alcohol?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not on Xanax (alprazolam): Gilbert's is basically harmless and isn't a reason not to enjoy alcohol, but you can't drink it on when you're on Xanax (alprazolam). You'd be placing yourself in serious danger. Keep getting good guidance -- being 19 is tough for anyone, and as you learn new skills and ways of thinking, perhaps you'll become happier and won't need these meds. When that happens, drink wisely if at all. Best wishes.
