What is pimple hyperpigmentation and how is it treated?

Inflammation-caused: Inflammation can cause the hyperpigmentation after a pimple. Some skin types are more prone to this than others. A prescription product with the active ingredient of tretinoin (retin-a is one brand) might help over time. A gentle topical cortisone to reduce inflammation might help. Avoiding manipulation, pinching, squeezing, or rubbing the area may help prevent the problem.
