Take him to a doctor: The sooner your dad gets the right antiviral medication the less he will suffer from this very painful process. Drugs like Acyclovir have been shown to stop the progression of this painful rash and even curtail or prevent repeat episodes with very few side effects. Forget the home remedies, there is real help for your dad! don't let his doctor scrimp on the pain meds either and ask about vaccine!
