To Pediatrician: If his cough is severe enough to be causing chest pains, then he definitely should be seen by his/a pediatrician, and soon. A similar complaint would chase most adults into the er, so don't dismiss it in a child, particularly at age may not have "enough words" to explain what he is feeling adequately.
