Possible: There is a higher chance of a blood clot if you smoke and take birth control pills. Consult with your doctor. Try to quit smoking.

Stop smoking: You had a blood clots when you are only 24 years old. That indicates that highly likelihood you have some underlying problem to begin with that make you are at higher risk to have another blood clot in the future. Smoking can damage your blood vessels wall and that will make your risk higher to have recurrence of blood clot. Absolutely, you have to stop smoking and don't even think to smoke again.
