Misunderstanding: Some allergy symptoms such as sneezing and itching are caused by histamine produced by special allergy cells in our body. The allergy cells release histamine when stimulated by a substance specific to each person such as pollen. Histamine-rich foods (ie wine or cheese) increase the symptoms after eaten . Allergy to histamine itself is possible however unlikely because it is a very small molecule.

Alcohol Allergy: Alcohol is a spontaneous mast cell degranulator. Your friend is probably not allergic, rather just has a side effect from ingestion of alcohol. Is it that she is drinking too much and then the reaction happens or is it with the first sip? Does it happen with all alcohols? Does it happen with different brands of vodka or tequila?
