It takes time: The bruising getting bigger is not big deal. When the blood underneath your nail dries up this is what ends up happening. It takes 4-6 months for you nail to regrow back. However, see a podiatrist to make sure you have "bruising" and not something else. Also did the doctor tell you why and how you got the bruising?

Not sure if: Your doctor was your internist or podiatrist, but if you see a foot doctor they should be able to cut the nail back and remove the majority of the bruising.
