Entirely yes: Any paps or samples taken from scraping the cervix can stir up bleeding from the mucous lining. Also just the pressure of the speculum can do the same. If, however, it lasts more than two or three days there is probably another reason and you should check back with your gyn.

A 50-year-old female asked:
How do you know that your pelvic exam was normal?

Ask the doctor: A pelvic exam includes a bimanual exam as well as a pap smear and a visual evaluation of the cervix. The pap smear results usually take 4-5 days to come back. The rest, the doctor or nurse practitioner who did the exam can tell you during the exam.
