Chronic constipation: Large-caliber stools mean that your son's colon has enlarged from long-standing constipation & that referral to a pediatric gastroenterologist is warranted. A " clean-out" has to be done before MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) will work. After it's done, he'll need treatment for at least 6 mos. To reduce the risks of medical & behavioral complications of chronic constipation. See his pediatrician first.
