Heat: I was an investigator in a large multi-site clinical trial on herpes i, and it was concluded that heat actually deactivates the virus. Temperatures slightly above normal are sufficient, and this can be achieved for example by using a heated cup persistently on emerging lesions. The device used in the trial was patented by a non-us company, and can be found on the -net for approx $75.
