Genetics, diet, : You may have changed your diet, exercise habits or be under stress. You may have devleoped diabetes. Cardiovascular disease is a result not a cause of a spike in a cholesterol spike. I would consult your healthcare provider for additional testing.

Other way Around: Diet off meds diabetes? Hypothyroid? Some other stressor to metabolism hyper cholesterol is a causative factor for cv disease.
