Yes: However, a joint is sprained. There are many joints in the arm, shoulder, elbow, wrist, fingers and thumb. Usually only one of two joints are sprained at a time. Those injures joints are swollen and painful to move. Sometimes, when it is injured enough, you cannot use the joint. At times, immobilization is needed for healing.
