Many causes: Demineralization is removal of minerals from the skeleton. Adequate mineralization depends on calcium, vit d intake, exposure to sun, regular exercising, some hormone replacement. With aging exercise and extrogen/ testosterone production reduces. The skeleton becomes osteoporotic. Overactive thyroid gland, proton pump inhibitors, bowel disease, and excessive steroids reduce mineralization.
