How to get rid of head lice, when shampoos do not work?

Shampoos never work: Head lice generally need to be poisoned and manually removed. Shampoos don't do much to deal with them, and suffocation techniques aren't terribly effective either. Permethrin containing medicines like rid and nix work pretty well, as do non-permethrin products like ovid and licemd. But nothing works better than that nit-loosening gel, that fine toothed comb, and lots of time and effort.

Vaseline: You can use vaseline to suffocate the lice. You must coat the hair evenly for 8-12 hours.
