11/22/12: This assumes you have the "average"28 day cycle, but we use the last menstrual period for dating because the sperm and egg can both can live a few days so conception doesn't always occur on the exact day yu have sex. Ovulation can also vary a little from cycle to cycle in a woman, therefore the date given is an approximate.
