Abnormal: That doesn't sound normal. Severe cramping and abnormal bleeding is never normal. If you are still having pain, you should be checked by the gynecologist and things like infection, ectopic pregnancy and cyst ruled out.

Possibilities: : Due to the presence of both pain, and the timing (around mid-cycle) - it sounds most likely to be a cyst that may have gotten larger than normal, and may have rup-tured and caused some small bleeding into the abdomen resulting in the pain as well. Could also be infection (if you have any new sexual partners), could be a fibroid (benign muscle tumor). Observe and see dr if worsens.
