Same as nonautistics: The life expectancy for patients with autism is the same as for patients without autism.

It depends: Because there are many genetic causes of autism, occasionally people with autism have additional problems, like birth defects, a weak immune system, or mental retardation. For some folks with this sort of complex autism, there can be poor overall health, and their life expectancy can be shorter than average. Fortunately, early genetic diagnosis can help us see and maybe prevent potential problems.
